For hybrid template construction, the most useful templates in hybrid games arise from the most restricted element in the dimension with more cross-dimensional rules. Fixing that element's position or group assignment often determines many other elements' placements across both dimensions.
Do not assume that a constraint in one dimension is independent of constraints in the other. In hybrid games, nearly every rule has implications for both dimensions, either directly (cross-dimensional rules) or indirectly (pure-dimension rules combined with cross-dimensional rules). Always ask: "Does this placement restriction in dimension one trigger anything in dimension two?" before concluding that a placement is valid.
